I’m thinking about the feedback loops of biology/technology, intelligence/spirituality, reality/imagination. They are all braided together in the complex web of existence…but how? My goal is 10 paintings by July. Here is where I stand with the first 5…about three months work. Because my teaching job I have to work economically in the early morning, and weekend nights. Technology will infect biology. And we won’t even know it’s happening. In fact it’s happening right now… All human institutions are about to crumble. Government, national borders, religion, the economy will all soon be gone. This is what we need to examine as artists. No one will remember your “F#ck AI” meme…do serious work regarding this moment in history, however you make art. Try to sum up what we are all going through. What will happen with our discarded robots in the future? Will they get to enjoy that Great Gig In The Sky? Arrival Of The 14th Electronic Pope I really should finish one before starting another but… Work on the latex gloves here. In the home stretch on these. Worked on the gloves last night. Our furry little friend is next. I almost trashed this painting a few weeks ago, glad I stuck with it! Another Replicant taking shape in my studio. Getting stared down whilst you paint is unnerving. Painting a highly reflective environment is fun. All the colors and highlights playoff each other. The cellophane green the latex is white so they have to intermingle. The mouse less so because his fur is gonna absorb all of that. Gotta think this through. Octopus Headlock I’ll throw it to you guys…what do you think is going on here? Big painting, gonna take me a minute. This is a couple days in… Nothing like a little Disco Dead when you’re waiting for the laundry to dry. Doodling… Here we go again! Number 3 in this series. I was worried about rendering the plastic, but the mouse fur might be the rub here. Maybe done in September. Girl In Pink Plastic…ummm maybe halfway through. Finally able to put some time into this one…been a struggle so far. I like gettin’ old! Skin tones have more colors than you might think… On the night this hot you have no choice but to split open and melt. Third go at this face…but I think I captured something this time around. A punk couple or a couple of punks? Dude, that really hurts. Bad. Mystery Girl From Space Master Of The Winds And Sea Merman Emerges From The Sea Why are you looking at me like that? Oh, that’s why. I got a lot of work to do.
