The Art of Exchange – A Collaborative Inquiry

PRAGYA BHARGAVA, OLIVER CLOKE, (I) INSTRUCTOR, MICHAEL J. MIGLIACCI, SUSAN STAINMAN

8.5.26 – 24.5.26

This ongoing investigation explores the creative process by elevating the act of collaboration into the central subject of the artwork. Viewers can dive deeper into these partnerships through intimate interviews where artists deconstruct their shared methods. These conversations ultimately reveal the personal significance and inner meaning of the final collaborative pieces.

Current Work on Display: ‘The Art of Exchange – A Collaborative Inquiry’

‘The Art of Exchange – A Collaborative Inquiry’ is pleased to present the collaborative artwork’s of Oliver Cloke and Michael J. Migliacci

Their Drawings are an effort to coexist on the page. Each artwork is created over a couple of months work, sending drawings backwards and forwards, each layer was done in four minute slots and then the artwork was sent to the other person. The lack of verbal communication allowed for a language to be formed and a game of chess to be cultivated. Each artist could enhance the work or erase as they wished. A rule agreed at the beginning of the exchange. They also found ways to overcome space and time as they were working between the UK and Japan.

The work is on view as part of
‘The Art of Exchange – A Collaborative Inquiry’ Conceptualised and curated by Oliver Cloke
at Airspace Projects,
Gadigal and Wangal Country
10 Junction St, Marrickville

Little late on posting this, but I was honored to show work at the Vienna Contemporary Art Space in Vienna, Austria last month.

Here’s a little about the work:

“The Madonna Of Friday Night Bingo” by Michael J. Migliacci, explores how our artificial offspring, who will inherit the earth, will deal with the legacy of humanity and whether they will be able to comprehend it. Will AI be able to distinguish our dreams from our reality? Our art from our advertising? Our wisdom from our gimmicks?

Michael J. Migliacci is an active artist, illustrator and teacher, currently living in Japan. His works are combinations of digital painting, generative AI and traditional painting on canvas. He aims to create works that address the current state of creative technology.

Happy to announce that the ANOMALIE podcast was recognized at the Signal Awards last month! I got the chance to do the art for each of the 8 episodes as well as the poster and logos. Lots of fun working with Steve Hein and Story Mill Media. Please check it out if you haven’t already.
