NEXUS @ Seiko Gallery

Well, the show at the Seiko Gallery is over and it was a great experience. My first solo showing of work in over 10 years! We had about 100 guests (which is way more people than I know in Osaka) and got some really good feedback about the work.

The thesis of the show was an examination of humanity’s place between two fundamental systems: Nature and Technology. We are in a constant state repelling these two worlds. We want to be in nature, but no longer have a place there. We fear technology, yet are almost totally dependent on it.

This tension is very apparent in the art world itself. The advent of AI threatens many artists, but encourages just as many. We can draw lines in the sand, declare our allegiances, but in the end we are being squeezed, and will have to redefine what it is to be an artist, and in fact, what it is to be human.
